The XPower Powerpack 1500 consists of a battery pack that stores electrical energy, state-of-the-art electronics that convert 12 volts from the battery pack to household power, an AC power panel that contains two standard outlets, and a DC power panel that is used to run 12 volt products. These components are packaged into a rugged “cart” with a removable waist handle that allows XPower Powerpack 1500 to be wheeled from room-to-room or outdoors over rough terrain.
An excellent alternative to a generator, the XPower Powerpack produces no noise or fumes and has no moving parts. With the accessories provided, you can easily recharge the XPower Powerpack using standard utility power from your wall outlet, your vehicle, or from a solar panel.
The XPower Powerpack can be used to produce power for numerous applications. For power emergencies it can run essential appliances like refrigerators, cordless/mobile phones, radios, fireplace fans, table lamps, or microwaves. For work sites, you can power your drills, belt sanders, circular saws, hedge trimmers, leaf blowers, vacuums, computers, large monitors, fax machines, and inkjet printers. For plain old fun, you can use the power source to run blenders, video games, TV and VCRs, satellite equipment, coffee makers, portable coolers and more.
The XPower Powerpack features a built-in 1500 watt inverter and sealed, non-spillable 60 Amp-hour AGM battery. Dual AC outlets allow operation of multiple products, and a built-in battery level indicator confirms the charge level. A high surge protection and automatic over-temperature and overload shutdown keeps the Powerpack running safely and efficiently, while a low voltage alarm and shutdown prevents deep battery discharge. You can recharge the Powerpack from home (up to 15 hours), or your vehicle (6 to 8 hours). A padded grip towing handle removes easily for storage in tight places, and built-in handles on sides allow for easy lifting.
The XPower Powerpack measures 14.8 x 15.6 x 12.3 inches (HxWxD), weighs 60 pounds, and is backed by a 1-year limited warranty.

1 Star Xantrex 1500 Powerpack
This product did not work for me. The first powerpack would not charge from the AC Charger 5 because supposedly the battery sat too long on the shelf and became totally dead. I was sent a replacement and that one did the same thing after it tried to charge for a minute or so. I returned both powerpacks for a complete refund.
4 Stars A good start for a backup power system
I bought one of these units a year ago and have been somewhat pleased. The basic cart worked well enough but when I put much of a load on it, it would cut out. Then I added 4 of the 18 amp hour sealed batteries that they recommend in their directions and am very happy with the results. I even pulled out my monster Kirby vacuum cleaner (the kind with powered wheels) and vacuumed my whole 2bdrm condo. I bought a couple solar panels and a charge controller and wired them up during a practice power outage (I shutoff all the circuits in my fuse box except my refrigerator) and went through a day without power. I highly recommend this for anyone who’s serious about preparing for power interruptions.
The directions recommend sealed batteries since you can roll the cart around without smelling battery acid or spilling it on your carpet. If you’re really serious about this stuff though, you might even want to pickup a few serious deep cycle batteries and put them in a stationary location and use a cable to connect it to the cart.
I did notice one slight drawback. The inverter seems to kick out some noise if I use it to power my ancient boom box from the 80’s. You might need to get a pure sign wave inverter if you’re going to power sensitive electronic equipment.
If the price of this cart is too much, you can make a stationary version of this with a couple sealed deep cycle batteries, a charger for it (that shuts off automatically, like the one that comes with the cart) and a good sized inverter. You could throw it all in one of those plastic boxes that can buy at any big box store.
4 Stars XANTREX REALLY WORKS
I decided to purchase this product after experiencing a prolonged black out while shaving my face around 5 am. ENOUGH WAS ENOUGH. I have tested this generator to determine its capacity to deliver the next time I would need it. It will function well if used to operate small low powered decvices, radio, tv, computer, shavers, light fixtures, charging cell phones, etc. however it is not up to snuff for larger appliances such as a refrigerator or freezer. Recharge every 3-4 months to keep charge level full this take 1-2 minutes and recharge immediately after using. A fantastic product for times when everything in your house goes out out except your flash light.
2 Stars pro’s and con’s
I use the power pack as backup in my truck, so I don’t have to drain the starting batteries. I thought that 1500 watt inverter would be plenty. First complaint is that the battery is only 51ah. Basically it will run 40 watts for 9 hours , so you can watch t.v for 9 hours it has a dc outlet so you can use that. The inverter has a annoying alarm when the battery gets to low. You can run a microwave for about 10 minutes and then you have to recharge again . Recharge time 8hours using the car and 12 hours using the house. So as far as back up power I would not want to be caught with this power pack in a power outage, unless you just plan on watching t.v. or charging you cell phone and no usb either. 2 stars
5 Stars Nice Backup for what it is
I’ve had this for a month now and am basically happy with it. I think my expectations were unreal when purchasing it. Expecting to run a fridge for hours is just not going to happen. However, I am able to run the fridge steady for an hour (opening the door to keep it going) as well as run my lawn edger, trimmer and blower. Higher amp items don’t work as I found with an electric chipper I have. All in all I’m happy with the product. I paired this with an 80 watt solar panel and I can charge it from dead to full within 2 sunny days here in Ohio. In an electric emergency I feel I could rotate the solar panel and charge it in one day.
Nice for portable power, hope I never find out how well it works as emergency backup but I think it will be fine for keeping food from spoiling.
